Who
Are We?
Your books,
Bibles and special memories are meticulously restored by a team of
old world craftsman working in a specially-equipped shop. The
historic building we work in reminds us that our craft -- of
carefully binding books by hand -- is a dying art.
Our historic shop sits
near the foothills of a beautiful mountain range.
The same mountains crossed by Spanish padres when
California still belonged to Mexico. Later came
the pioneers who sought ranchland and planted vast
orange groves in the fertile valley. The towns
grew and multiplied as people discovered the mild
climate and natural goodness of the inland valley.
Then, in 1931, a man
nailed a hand painted sign to the side of his building
advertising quality bookbinding. He had learned
the secrets of hand bookbinding from a Swiss
craftsman. And the story and service of the Book
Craftsman began.
If you are ever in the
Mentone, California area, please stop by. Our
staff, who learned this craft from the original Book
Craftsman, would love to give you a short tour to show
you how your books are hand tooled, using the finest
materials, by our experienced guild.
